As well as having the opportunity to buy directly from the artists at the fair, we are also delighted to be offering visitors the chance to take part in a number of free artist led workshops, for all ages and abilities, watch demos, and hear talks from some of the most established professionals in the art world. For younger visitors, our fabulous facepainter will be available on Saturday and Sunday, whilst our on-site cafe will be serving food and drink throughout the weekend.
Plus...the Borders Art Fair is spreading out! We are delighted to be co-hosting an exhibition of work from the Royal Scottish Academy which will take place at Kelso Town Hall during the weekend. As part of the exhibition, artist Leena Nammari will be demonstrating the art of etching, with prints available to buy. There is a free shuttle bus service which will be running between Springwood Park, where the fair takes place, and Kelso Town Centre (Woodmarket bus stop) to encourage our visitors to make the most of this rare opportunity to see work from the RSA's Recognised Collection of National Significance.
And as if that's not enough....Mellerstain House, home of the Borders Sculpture Park, will be opening it's doors for exclusive private art tours on Saturday and Sunday, giving access to paintings by Van Dyck, Gainsborough, Ramsay and other Old Masters in this beautiful Robert Adam-designed architectural masterpiece.
We will also be running children's art competitions in the run up to the fair, and hosting a series of outreach events in local schools and youth clubs, the results of which will be available to view at the fair.
